Bukit Batu Fish Farming

Kalimantan, Indonesia

In Kalimantan, Indonesia, SD Canada continues to support the excellent work of Canadian Subud member Bardolf Paul and Yayasan Tambuhak Sinta (YTS). This year, for the first time, SD Canada is contributing to a multi-year effort to train and empower very poor communities to develop fish farming and chicken raising enterprises. Good quality, low-cost protein is often lacking and this is an opportunity to develop small-scale enterprises.

In 2023, SD Canada contributed $6,800 towards this project.

"Reflections on integrated research from community engagement in peatland restoration"

Check out the article, "Reflections on integrated research from community engagement in peatland restoration" co-authored by members of the YTS team!
The paper describes the experience of bringing together a team of natural and social scientists from Australia and Indonesia in the ‘Gambut Kita’ (translated as ‘Our Peat’) project, a project which aims to produce new knowledge and support efforts to successfully, and equitably, restore Indonesia’s tropical peatlands and ensure that livelihoods can be maintained on restored (rewetted) landscapes.
